Channel banned? How to stay in touch with fans

If your channel gets banned, your next stream may be off and your viewers may not know why. That is worth preparing for on Twitch, YouTube or Kick, especially if streaming pays your bills. fanping lets you keep existing app followers and connected Discord communities informed. It cannot restore your account, reach every viewer or replace lost income.

What if my streaming account gets banned?

You have a stream planned. Your regulars expect you. Then your channel gets banned, and you cannot go live to explain why you are missing. If that channel is also where you earn your living, you may also be facing a break in income while trying to work out how to reach the people who normally watch.

I would not want my main streaming channel to be my only way to contact the people watching. The work you put into those relationships does not disappear because of a ban. But if viewers only know that channel, they may have no idea where to find you next.

Twitch, YouTube and Kick each have their own rules on account restrictions. The effect on your income depends on the restriction and how you earn money. Twitch lists account suspension and removal of monetization tools among its possible enforcement actions. Under YouTube's termination rules, participants in the YouTube Partner Program lose their entitlement to earn revenue when their channel is terminated. Kick describes its review process in its suspension and ban appeals guidance. For a streamer whose income depends on one channel, losing access can mean having to rethink the next stream and how to pay the bills at the same time.

How can fans find you after a channel ban?

A follower count is not a contact list you can automatically move somewhere else.

Fans need to know another place to look before the usual one becomes unavailable. That could be an announcement channel in your Discord community, an email list people chose to join, or a follow in the fanping app. Choose a route you can actually maintain. Put it somewhere viewers can find during normal broadcasts and explain what they will receive there.

I prefer thinking about this as staying in touch. Fans are people making choices about their time. You can show fans where to watch your next stream. They decide whether to join you there.

Use that second route for ordinary updates too. If viewers already know where schedule changes appear, they have a place to check when a stream does not happen.

How fanping can help you contact fans after a ban

Say your channel gets banned before tonight's stream. Send a ping to explain what happened and where fans can find your next update.

fanping sends that announcement to the Discord channels you connected and the people who already follow you in the fanping app. Those connections sit outside your streaming channel. Our part is keeping a way to send that update available outside your streaming channel. Check that you can still access your fanping account if your streaming login becomes unavailable. Know who manages your Discord announcement channel, and send a test ping before you rely on either route.

What fanping cannot recover or guarantee

fanping cannot recover your streaming account or contact viewers who never connected through Discord or the fanping app. Someone who receives your update may watch you elsewhere. Someone else may wait for your return or stop watching. We cannot promise that your audience will move with you.

A ping cannot replace lost income or transfer paid subscriptions. Even if fans find your next stream, rebuilding earnings is a separate problem. Keeping in touch gives you somewhere to start, not a guarantee that your streaming business survives unchanged.

Can you appeal the ban or stream elsewhere?

A temporary streaming restriction and permanent channel termination are different situations. Read the notice you received. The platform's appeal process deals with the account decision, but keeping your audience informed is a separate job. For example YouTube currently allows up to 1 year to appeal a Community Guidelines termination, as its termination and appeal guidance explains. That is an appeal window, not a promised resolution time.

Check the destination's rules before announcing a move. YouTube's termination policy prohibits using, owning or creating other YouTube channels after termination. A fresh channel on the same service is not a general recovery option. Follow the applicable restrictions and use the official appeal process for the account decision.

Discord and fanping also have their own rules and service dependencies. Adding either gives you another route, but it does not make you independent of every platform.

Give fans a way to find you before a ban

Pick the place where fans should hear from you if your streaming channel becomes unavailable. Explain its purpose in plain words: schedule changes, stream links and updates about where to watch.

With multiple streaming platforms connected to fanping, you can send your existing app followers a ping linking to the platform you are using for your next stream. They can open that link without first searching for your other channel.

Put your fanping link in your channel panels and Discord announcements while your usual channel is still available. Viewers who follow you in the fanping app can still get your pings if that channel becomes unavailable.
